Our end of life care team can make a loved one's final days that much more comfortable and lessen the strain on family and friends. It also enables you to remain at home, in familiar surroundings, with your family at your side.

You can choose to have our carers there during this time when you just need some extra help and support; we provide a full range of care services for palliative and end-of-life care. From personal care, administering medication, cooking meals or sharing memories over a cup of tea, our support covers whatever you require.

We have experienced and trained carers throughout Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire, able to provide fast-track palliative care at the last minute, as time is precious. We regularly work alongside hospices, support groups, continuing healthcare teams and district nurses to offer the right level of home care.

What is palliative care?

Palliative in-home care enables individuals to remain in their own homes to receive end-of-life care. Carers, specially trained in palliative nursing, will visit or move into the home of the person they are responsible for looking after in order to provide round-the-clock support. It’s also often referred to as hospice at home.

Benefits of palliative care at home

One of the main benefits of palliative care at home is that it allows somebody to pass away peacefully in their own home, with someone they know and trust nearby. As well as being reassuring for the person receiving care, knowing this can give peace of mind to families and close friends too.

Not having care provided in a hospital or hospice also means less disruption for everybody: it’s usually more comfortable for friends and family to visit at a person’s home. Round-the-clock care also means that any changes in condition will be noticed and responded to quickly. Family members can carry on with their lives, knowing they will be notified of any developments.

You can also be reassured that the person providing care is assessed to the high standards of the Care Quality Commission. Find out more about the advantages of using a managed palliative care service instead of employing a carer directly.

How quickly can palliative carers be arranged?

When somebody is ill, conditions can change very quickly. The need to arrange palliative care can be very urgent, especially if someone’s in pain or distress.

We offer emergency home care for a variety of circumstances, and in many cases, we can begin arranging care within 24 hours of you getting in touch.

Even if you haven’t used NLG Home Care before, please call us if you require urgent palliative care – we’ll be happy to help.
